Friends are companions on a journey,
who ought to aid each other
to persevere in the road
to a happier life.
In everyone’s life, at some time,
our inner fire goes out. It is then
burst into flame by an encounter
with another human being. We
should all be thankful for those
people who rekindle the inner spirit.
A true friend is somebody who can
make us do what we can do.

This is the first time I have participated in the WordPress weekly photo challenge. For those of you don’t know about it, each week The Daily Post at WordPress sends out a theme and bloggers are invited to take photos based on their interpretation of the theme and post them before the following Friday when the next topic is announced. I have looked at the theme each week, for many weeks now, with the intention of creating a post, and it is finally time to stop procrastinating!
I am highlighting our friendship with Susan and Bob in this post because we recently spent time with them in New Mexico. They live across the country in Maine so we don’t see them as often as we’d like, but when the four of us are together we have a wonderful time, and each of us comes away changed (for the better) in some way. I think Susan summed it up perfectly in a card she sent to us last week: “It’s a rare thing to find couples who come together as we do – the flow is pretty natural, the conversation has us talking and thinking months, years even, after we sat together drinking cappuccino, tequila, wine on back portals, in coffee shops, around dining room tables. The food of our friendship is one of the most delicious and nourishing that we know. Here’s to many more meals together feeding our bodies, minds and souls.”
Hold a true friend with both hands.
The above photo of Bob and Ed was taken in Truchas, NM a few years ago and I decided to include it because it’s one of my favorite pictures of two men I love! It makes me smile (inside and out) every time I look at it.
A successful married life requires falling
in love many times, but always
with the same person.
Today is Bob and Susan’s 28th wedding anniversary, which I did not know when I started writing this post yesterday. I love synchronicity!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO A BEAUTIFUL COUPLE!
And thank you for always adding kindle to the fire of our spirits.
Note: To all my other great friends – you know who you are – THANKS!
