Summer’s Here!

We woke to bright sunshine this morning.  Thank you Mother Nature for gracing us with this most luscious day to welcome in the new season.

There shall be eternal summer
in the grateful heart.

~Celia Thaxter~

Long summer days are one of the great things about living in the Pacific Northwest.  I took this shot last night at 8:30.   The sun rose at 5:11 this morning and will set at 9:11 this evening, and I’m planning to enjoy every minute of the brilliant light today!

This time, like all times,
is a very good one,
if we but know what to do with it.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson~

I always hear this song in my mind when I think of the sky in Seattle lol
        (partial lyrics)
The bluest skies you’ve ever seen are in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle
Like a beautiful child, growing up, free an’ wild
Full of hopes an’ full of fears, full of laughter, full of tears
Full of dreams to last the years, in Seattle . . . in Seattle

When it’s time to leave your home and your loved ones
It’s the hardest thing a boy can ever do
An’ you pray that you will find someone warm an’ sweet an’ kind
But you’re not sure what’s waiting there for you

The bluest skies you’ve ever seen are in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle
Like a beautiful child, growing up, free an’ wild
Full of hopes an’ full of fears, full of laughter, full of tears
Full of dreams to last the years, in Seattle . . . in Seattle

        Hi Grace,

I had never heard of this song until I read your comment yesterday and now as I sit here with my sister and brother-in-law at their kitchen table in Racine, WI the song has come up again – in fact we’re listening to it right now on Steve’s iPad. I love it when things like this happen – little synchronicities. I think I know why they say the bluest skies are in Seattle – because compared to the abundant gray skies, the blue seems bluer!

Do you live in Seattle? Thanks for your comments.
