. . . a true friend is someone who inspires,
who challenges, who sends you in search
of some truer sense of who you are.~Steve Lopez~
I reconnected with an old friend the other day – in a three-hour telephone conversation. Sharon and I stayed in touch, albeit sporadically, through email and Facebook, but hadn’t talked for a very long time. However, we are always with each other in spirit – through many shared memories. I often think of Sharon, especially when I’m cooking, because we spent a lot of time in the kitchen, creating great meals and laughing a lot. Time and distance have not taken anything away from our friendship. It was just like old times when we talked on Friday.
I chose the photo of our back courtyard to go along with the quote because Adirondack chairs say to me, “stop, sit awhile, and enjoy the moment”, and what better way to enjoy the moment than with a good friend. I’ve sat with Sharon and other good friends in those very same chairs, being inspired, challenged, continuing the ongoing search for my True Self . . .
If there is an old friend you’ve been meaning to call, today would be a good day to do it.
What a beautiful post and perfect picture to match it. Your backyard looks so beautiful. i especially love that little dash of red in the background…and those chairs look so inviting!
Thanks. We love our yard. The California Poppies are amazing – they just keep coming up – all I have to do is dead-head. I planted a few geraniums for a splash of red. Remember when we sat in those chairs in April, all bundled up?? I have fond memories of sitting with you at Geneva Park in Adirondack chairs overlooking the lake. Thank you my friend for inspiring me, challenging me and helping me to bloom. xxoo
What a gorgeous photo and spot Suellen! Lovely thoughts about friendship too. Margie
I am blessed with many amazing friends. If you’re ever in Santa Fe look me up and we can sit in the Adirondacks with a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery.
