If there is a heaven, it’s certain our animals
are to be there. Their lives become so interwoven
with our own, it would take more than
an archangel to detangle them.
Ask the beasts and they will
teach you the beauty of this earth.
~St. Francis of Assisi~
Give sorrow words. The grief that does not speak
whispers the o’er-fraught heart, and bids it break.
Don’t cry because it’s over.
Smile because it happened.
There is no death. Only a change of worlds.
What we once enjoyed we can never lose.
All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
Ruffa (Betsy & Steve’s Beardie) left this world on Saturday to go on to her next adventure. I imagine her with Murphy (our first Beardie), romping, chasing balls and being “Bouncing Beardies”somewhere in the great beyond. She was 16 + years old. Ruffa was diagnosed with osteosarcoma more than a year ago and no one thought she’d still be us well past her 16th birthday, but she was a trooper, and decided to live the good life with her loving family for a little while longer, and that she did.
Those of you who have lost a pet know how heart-breaking this can be. The unconditional love they give everyday is like nothing else. She will stay in our hearts and memories forever.
Few human beings give of themselves
to another as a dog gives of itself.
